For those who know music, you would realise that Susan Boyle went off key at 0:34 of the video. It actually sounded quite bad. But people don’t care anymore, because she is now popular.

Popularity hides mistakes!

Look at Simon Cowell’s eyes. Look at how Piers buzzed him when he said the word ‘poetry’. It seems as if poetry alone and the way that guy behaved were so big a turnoff that he don’t even deserve to be on the show.

What did that guy do for Simon Cowell to give those eyes? Why did he get buzzed initially for wanting to perform poetry and being a librarian?  Why don’t the good-looking, hip people get buzzed instead?

It just shows how society is prejudiced against those who don’t look ‘normal’ (if normality can be defined). We don’t given give this people a chance for themselves and judge them by the way they look or behave.

Thankfully, this show breaks stereotypes.

In Game 2 of the Celtics vs Magic Semi-finals, Rafer Alston slapped Eddie House on the head after House made a shot. What was he thinking? Here’s the video of it:

And later Alston said, that was a natural reaction towards Eddie.

Yes, he was suspended for 1 game.

Today, his crazy antics returned. He kissed a referee on the head for what I don’t know. Here’s the video for it:

And yes, the NBA is planning a suspension for him again.

I’ve heard of the Globetrotters before. I kinda know they are a team with a very very long history. But I’m not sure who these guys are though, but looking through some of their stunts on youtube, they look pretty cool and funny. Not sure about how the turnout will be like though. Don’t really think Singaporeans would watch these sort of stuff! So I’m like an odd-one-out.

The Celtics were resilent, especially Ray Allen who answered with two BIG baskets to keep the Celtics in the game. But the Bulls came out top as Joakim Noah stole the ball from Paul Pierce and raced down for a breakaway jam. And then, Derrick Rose blocked Rajon Rondo’s final shot.

My heart was pumping hard the entire game.

Nothing short of beautiful!

There is a great buzz about Susan Boyle these days because of what she did on the Britain’s Got Talent show, which was to simply showcase her talent. She simply sang a rendition of ‘I dreamed a dream’ from Les Miserables and she is apparently taking the world by storm.

I don’t understand why everybody is making a big “hoo-ha” about her when she is just another talented person with a good voice. There are so many talented contestants with extremely good voices and yet they don’t get the limelight that she is getting right now.

Perhaps, it has something to do with physical appearances.

There is a whole lot of negative stigmatisation people have about the relationship with looks and ability. Susan Boyle just proved it wrong and people are shocked by what she is able to do. Why the shocking response by so many people? Is it because of the preconception that most fat and ugly people can’t do anything so well and only the handsome and beautiful can excel in things?

I believe that Susan Boyle is a wake-up call to our society today. A wake-up call to a society that judges a person according to appearances. Our society has been equating a good physical appearance to good ability to such an extent that someone who has a tremendous talent, but doesn’t look exactly “pretty” becomes an anomaly.
